Organization/Congregation
by arko_n9ne inin this new-fangled age of the internets (yes, plural), it is going to be easier for active witnesses to understand that there is no scriptural basis for the creation and abusively excessive use of organization in comprehension of bible truth.. .
i'm going to be the apostate prophet here and say that it's only a matter of time before they make a drastic change to suit their purpose in either "congregation as it turns out, really translates to organization" and a 2014 revision of the nwt comes out littered with organization in place of congregation.
or the "pure language" forbids any publisher from calling the wts "the organization" and commands that it be called "the congregation" and only that.. my task to anyone with the know-how:.

"Is there any sane way they can misconstrue the hebrew and greek words and meanings of "congregation" to fit "organization?""
They wouldn't have to because the dubs will just believe it cause the govern mental body said so!

After 100+ years, the Watchtower Society can be summed up in one word...
by Glander inhubris['hju?br?s], hybris.
pride or arrogance2.
(literary & literary critical terms) (in greek tragedy) an excess of ambition, pride, etc., ultimately causing the transgressor's ruin [from greek]hubristic , hybristicadjthey have been able to attract a core of followers, and, like the bullies they are, hold them through a combination of a fear shunning and the childish vision of eternal life in a new world.

Some personal thoughts as 2011 comes to a close
by Terry infirst off, if you are in a safe place inside your head, merry christmas.
i was fortunate to have had childhood christmases in my home growing up.
many born-ins are probably never going to know what they missed.. also.... i am thinking about all the nice, friendly, happy things i've given up for jehovah and it saddens me.

Thanks for the Nice words. Thanks for not calling us stuck ins Hypocrites.
As for Christmas I was wondering the other day why are we holding one culture accountable for the sins of another. Seriously I think the wt denounced Christmas because it honored Our Savior. And that is just beyond them. When celebrating Christmas in the past I never even thought oh this is Jesus Birthday. It was about the arival of Immanuel. And if you don't like religion.....well you can still celebrate as it has become for everyone.

Dear WTS, if higher education is a waste of time, don't eat the fruit it bares
by arko_n9ne init's 9pm over here, so good evening to those without the sun, and good morning to those who just got it from us.. i've been pretty aggitated with the needless demonizing of higher education from the wts.
they make subtle gestures but their lawyers are too clever to let them say it directly these days.. but i was rereading the february 2011 awake magazine.
i use my watchtowers and awakes for giggles on the can these days.

I was born into the truth. Have been baptized for 5 years. Its not true that we are not allowed to go to college or participate in extra curricular activities. I plan on going to college for 4 year. Right now I am on my schools soccer team and some clubs. My father is disfellowshipped my sister and I still talk to him. The borthers and sister are all fully aware of all these things. Yet you claim that we dont approve of them? Looks like you have some faulty information.
This idiot has been marked and he don't even know it! lol

Please can we all have a go at describing and celebrating our different NEW IDENTITIES, versus our OLD WBTS IDENTITY?
by Fernando inat one time most of us here identified as jws who follow the wbts gb/fds who claim to follow the bible etc.
some of us are journeying to a new identity, others may feel they already have a new identity.. although we likely have gone in many different directions, we share a common past which only ex-members can really understand and explain.
please could we each respectfully share and celebrate our unique perspectives of where we have come from, and where we each are now at on this journey?.

Old: Wondering why all those people in the world were so stupid not to listen to the watchtower.
New: Wondering why 7 million plus people are stupid enough to listen to the watchtower.
Everything else about my personality follows this same pattern!!!!

How would you have explained this scripture as a JW or even as a Christian?
by StoneWall inexodus 32:14 [nwt] " and jehovah began to feel regret over the evil that he had spoken of doing to his people".
this is taken from the new world translation but it is worded very closely the same in american standard, king james version and a couple other translations.
why do they refer to the "evil he had spoken of doing to his people"?

Be careful not to stumble due to "black and white" fallacy. Why can't almighty God change his mind? What does perfection have to do with it? He wasn't setting out to destroy the people completey so it wasn't a judgement that they were wicked.......just bad.
Maybe Evil is a bad translation as it has the wrong connotation to most of us. But it does cause us to dig deeper to learn. If mere mortals could not cause God to change his mind on anything then what good would prayer do? Ask an ye shall recieve.
This is why it is good to use many translations when searching for an answer?
I'm no expert just trying to give the bible a chance.
